You may have heard of biofeedback for the brain, or neurofeedback, which has recently been featured on numerous television news and popular magazines. All this attention is a very good reason. Research has shown that neurofeedback therapy can really change the how does the human brain, and numerous case studies have shown it can reduce, sometimes eliminate problems such as pain chronic disorder and attention deficit.
Neurofeedback works on the principle that people like to be rewarded. If you are a parent, you know very well how this works. Initially, models only happen when your actual therapy sessions, but later you will notice that they may begin to occur outside of therapy. Sometimes people notice a significant difference after only ten sessions.
Like anything else, practice makes perfect, and your brain itself grows in positive role models, the more they become habitual. Most circumstances it will take at least fifteen or twenty sessions of neurofeedback to get your brain on track for the long term, but some disorders like epilepsy, for example, take mai eighty or more sessions. Neurofeedback sessions are not painful or hard on the nerves, and they can actually be quite calm and pleasant.
Once these new models become more of a part of the functioning of your brain, you will not need treatment unless symptoms worsen again. However, some people undergoing an experience of neurofeedback therapy lasting relief of their symptoms because neurofeedback addresses actually the underlying cause of symptoms when actually originate – in the brain.
