How does a symmetric weight holder bar in the gym keeping the balance, even if we load one side of the bar.
Just to clarify. I mean the bar that you load with circular weights at each end to press the chest. So many times that I have a load side (one) with up to 15-20 kgs and the stem still not switching! Since the stem appears symmetrical, I have difficulty to explain this.
It has to do with the center of gravity of the bar and some simple operations simple. Probably the bar is still supported on the grid when you start charging a single side. This means that the contact point between the bar and the rack closest to the side you're loading weight becomes the fulcrum of a lever that you put in place by overloading one side. My best guess is that you're just not putting enough weight. From my experience, these bars weigh over 25 lbs (Olympic bars weigh 30 lbs) or 14-15 kgs. When you configure the system to leverage the majority of the weight of the bar acts as a counterweight. It is also true in systems that leverage the distance between the effects Fulcrum balance. The weights you load up are much closer to the fulcrum as the center of gravity of the opposite side of the bar that serves as a counterweight. It is a rather straightforward: Mass * Distance = rotational force (ie the trend to the bar for FLIP). Thus, for the sake of example, say that the bar weighs 15 kg and is 15 meters long (obviously a serious exaggeration, but it makes the calculation simple), and that, when placed on the grid, 2kg worth of bar to hold on to each end for you to load weight. This means that when you start with weights, you have 2 kg of bar + weights are multiplied After a distance of 1m (assuming that the added weight is distributed evenly across the portion of the bar you have to work with). On the other side, you have 13 kg bar with a center of gravity of 6.5 m away from the pivot point. This means to return the bar above, you'd need about 85 kg weight! In short, there is nothing special about the bar is just the weight distribution and properties of lever systems.
